Seattle Roadtrip
First, we're sorry for the lack of blog entries lately and we plan to keep this updated from now. We promise.
After years of impatiently waiting it was announced that Rakim, the 18th letter himself, would be on tour. Seeing as we're pretty much raised on 80/90's hiphop, its only fitting that we attended the show. So we took the day off, dragged DJ Physik along for the ride and hopped in the biggest heat score to cross the border since the up in smoke tour.

Surprisingly the border let us through, but they must have radioed ahead for the Highway Patrol because we were pulled over shortly after. The officer didn't want his photo taken but offered to give us a ticket instead (IM BLIND TO YOU HATERS!). A waste of time at the outlets and a juvenile album later we arrived at capitol hill. We hit up goods, winners circle and capitol. I copped a couple Actual Pain t's and Miles got some Nike boots. Next stop was the cheesecake factory to meet up with my homie skilly and for some better than expected grub, even if it did take an hour to get seated. Physik highly recommends the strawberry lemonade. So off to the show right?
This line was literally around the block. Jay, Miles and Physik hopped right in while i decided to wait it out and drink some cheap american brews. An hour later we we're all inside...

I came upstairs just in time to see Brother Ali leaving the stage. To our surprise Ghostface got on-stage with the whole Theodore Unit and a live funk band. Ghosts set was thorough, even though he was letting his boys like Trife get their shine on. Rakim took the stage shortly after, and i'm sorry to say this, but he was a bit lack luster. Personally, i pictured Rakim running out on stage with Eric B. dropping the bass heavy "Know The Ledge" and jumping right into the lyrics "SIP THE JUICE, I GOT ENOUGH TO GO AROUND...". However the full band gave him a soft touch and he came off jazzy. He wasn't bad and it is another hiphop legend i get to cross off the list.

We followed Ghostdini outside and after one bad pic he was cool enough to get off the bus and take a good one for our blog. Skilly and Rhek jumped in this one too. The Showbox is a dope venue and they had Pabst Blue Ribbon Tall Boys on special (niiiiiiiiiiiiice). I woke up somewhere between Seattle and the border. All in all a good time. Stay tuned for more blog updates.
PEACE
your friends at complex.
